Colorful apartment for rent
Slnečnice, Bratislava, Slovakia
Popis projektu
The small one-bedroom rental apartment already had finished floors, doors and a bathroom with toilet. Our task was to design a visually strong yet cost-efficient interior. Instead of complex details, the design is based on a simple but bold concept that embraces exposed technical elements and standard developer materials. The saturated interior works with strong colors and clearly distinguishes the apartment from typical rental housing.

Entrance hall with a mobile stool
The narrow entrance hall required custom-made furniture that makes full use of its width. A built-in wardrobe is complemented by a blue shoe niche and a space for a stool integrated directly into the unit.
A durable, color-rich interior
The main concept combines standard elements with custom-made furniture using available materials in different colors, creating a bold and fresh design. Given the rental function, we focused on durability.
We needed to quickly and cost-efficiently furnish an investment apartment for rent.
We aimed to differentiate it from others so it would stand out with its idea and speak to its future tenant, making them look forward to coming home and not needing any further adjustments, enjoying its “vibe”.
The budget was very tight, but thanks to RULES architects the result exceeded expectations - to the point we would move in ourselves.
Custom artwork unifies the interior
The fresh atmosphere of the living area is complemented by artworks created for this space. They fill the wall opposite the TV, forming a visual counterpoint. Their colors come from the interior and reinforce its cohesion.
Flexible living room furniture
All living room elements were designed as mobile and flexible, allowing easy rearrangement within the room and even between spaces. Individual sofa modules can be configured freely according to current needs.
Dining-kitchen counter
To save space, we replaced the dining table with a counter. Its blue color makes it a strong feature of the living area. The rounded shape softens movement through the space and allows seating opposite each other.
Washing machine in the kitchen
The washing machine connections in the kitchen were used for an unconventional solution. The washing machine is hidden behind a door with a round opening, with storage for laundry and accessories.
White kitchen
The custom-made white laminate kitchen was designed to make maximum use of the limited space. Besides the washing machine, its features include a solid artificial stone countertop and cross handles.
Clean bedroom
The bedroom is kept clean and minimal. The white wardrobe visually disappears, leaving only the bed with two bedside tables and floor lamps. These can also be moved into the living room for flexibility.
Atypical design at the price of a standard solution with original details
Thanks to custom design, bedroom storage is more efficient than standard solutions. The design is complemented by original handles and a blue circular backdrop above the bed.
Bathroom and toilet fittings
The bathroom was almost completed, and we added a glass screen, mirror, lighting and storage elements. Despite the compact size, we designed a sink cabinet and additional storage above the toilet.
Loggia
The brick cladding and comfortable furnishings make the loggia an outdoor extension of the living room. We designed simple, durable furniture suited for everyday use and outdoor conditions.
